A first taste of Spanish cuisine
Everyone knows that when it's time to learn a new language you do not only learn grammar, vocabulary or techniques of how to read, write and talk but also, you learn everything related to culture. When we think about Spanish it would be a big mistake learning the language but not exploring the culture.
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about Spanish culture? Of course, we should think about gastronomy.
One of the biggest advantages of learning Spanish is not only the fact that is the second most spoken language in the world but also, going to Spain is being able to have a completely different experience in terms of food. Spanish vegetables and fruits have not only a tasty flavour but they are also very healthy.
What is the typical food in Spain? Is it actually healthy? Well, I will answer your questions. Are you ready to know a bit about gastronomy? Let me give you a couple of examples!
Spanish gastronomy follows what is called 'dieta mediterránea' (Mediterranean diet). This diet is based on frutas, verduras, frutos secos and some of our best products: el pescado azul, el aceite de oliva y el jamón serrano. There are many words here! Do you know the meaning of all them? Then, let's solve the following exercise.

Eating all these natural products without preservatives and additives will help you to live a healthy life. In Spain, food is really cheap compared to other countries. So, once you visit our country you are not allowed to leave without trying all these products!
Let's talk about more about food! I was born in a little village in Toledo and I must say that every person visiting Spain has to try mazapán, a sweet made of almendras and miel. Let's review these three Spanish words: mazapán, almendras y miel. Can you think the translation of those words in English? Yes, mazapán, almonds and honey. They are a bit similar!
Now let's talk about some other 'musts' in Spanish Gastronomy. The following paragraph will be a challenge:
You need to try: la paella, elaborada con productos naturales de la huerta de valencia, la tortilla de patatas española y el cocido madrileño.
